Slow Cooker Potato Gems Pie

Ingredients:
500grams mince
3-4 sheets puff pastry
Half bag potato gems frozen
Salt and pepper
Teaspoon minced Garlic
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/2 Cup flour
1/2 liter beef stock
2 small carrots grated
1 big stalk celery grated
1 big onion grated
1/2 cup grated cheese
I egg for egg wash

Method:
Brown mince, add garlic and onion and mix through
Add salt and pepper to taste
Add vegies, stock then flour and boil till reduced right down.
Line slow cooker with baking paper (sling)
Add sheets of pastry, egg wash the outside, around tbe slow cooker making sure there is a base and an overhang for top.
Poor filling in slow cooker.
Push gems through the meat and make sure covered
Layer the top with potato gems then sprinkle with cheese.
Close top with pastry overhang and egg wash top
Cook on low for 2hrs then high for 2hrs or until crispy. T-Towel over lid (kmart slow cooker so times may vary)
Optional: some times At the end I add cheese on top and under grill on high 2 mins or crisp up in oven just that little bit more.

I put tin in my slow cooker. Its a god send for presentation since i found one that fits 🙂 tea towel is under the lid. Needs to be completely dry in slow cooker to crisp up pastry. Also make sure filling is reduced as frozen gems create moisture.

As i said above i use a cake tin in my slow cooker to hold shape then at the end put in oven on high for 5-10mins to crisp up. I also have a kmart slow cooker so times may vary. Did u reduce right down so not runny?
